They have an opening for a Process Controls Engineer. The daily responsibility of the APC Engineer is the technical responsibility of Advanced Process Control, DCS Software basic/detailed design and implementation of APC projects in order to:
 
Organize, design and carry out the development, implementation and maintenance of Automation, Advanced/Basic Control and Process Optimization. This in order to promote the production of quantities and qualities of desired product at the lowest cost in accordance with applicable safety and environmental Company group state of the art procedures and Corporate Values (Responsible Care…)
Verify that process instruments (valves, actuators, VSDs, Instruments, Basic Analyzers: PH Density, Redox) are adequate for the new (A)PC projects participating from the beginning in projects that involves new development in (A)PC and Automation in general.

Job Overview and Responsibilities 
  • Designs, implements, monitors  and manages maintenance routines and methods (following the Company Best Practices)
  • Participate in new innovative automation project
  • Participate in the selection of the technologies to be used for new applications and extensions of current/new APC projects following the directions of the Company on providers and State-of-the-Art Best Practices.
 
 Education and Experience 
B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred. Candidates with other degrees who have a strong background in process control skills will also be considered.

Qualifications
 
The person filling this position has to possess and uses daily an experienced knowledge in the following fields (or must have the capacities necessary to be trained by the Company in those fields):
  • Process control:
  • Plant Dynamic Simulation (using Matlab, Scilia
  • Process control algorithm development, prototyping and implementation   
  • Classical control theory (Laplace, State Space, Bode, Nyquist, Robustness Linear identification (ARMAX).   
  • Classical signal processing theory (Fourier, FFT, filtering algorithm design) 
  • Regression and modeling (LS, PLS, PCA)
  • PID tuning and implementation 
  • Process Engineering: 
  • Instrumentation knowledge (valves, actuators, theory an practice of measure)
  • Thermodynamics (Mass, Energy balances, Reaction Kinetics…)
  • Fluid Mechanics (Reinolds…, Bernulli,…Pipes Equations,) 
  • Equipment knowledge (Pumps…)
  • Process Dynamic  Modeling (Aspen Dynamics, Speedup, …)
  • Flow sheeting (Aspen)
  • Industrial IT: Specification, software programming and implementation of Real Time:  DCS, PLC,SIS PLC, SCADA.
  • Technology of batch engines.
  • IT in general
  • Expertise in all of the following project phases (as a responsible and as a direct player):
  •  Requirements documentation (basic and detailed),
  •  Detailed Engineering development and follow up,
  •  Retailed design generation, implementation, system integration, testing and on-field, startup and commissioning, DCS, PLC programming
  • Hardware/Software Follow up and documentation maintenance following the Company state of the art methods (Functional Analysis, Grafcet, …)
